Welcome to the Taverne Katz website

It is in Saverne that  the heart of authentic Alsace is beating.

In this carved half-timbered house from 1605, the Katz Tavern accomodates you in an environment of traditions known in the picture books whose Hansi could have been inspired, secrecies that our grandmothers handed down over generations...

As soon as you cross the threshold of the Katz Tavern, everything by magic changes into a Gingerbread House.

You are plunged with delight in the cordial environment of an authentic Stub with decorations and habits which evolve and change along the weeks.

The typical and rustic recipes are cooked with love like the Baeckeoffe of Duck or the Sauerkraut with Goose with its stuffed goose neck, the Cheeks of Pig Braised with beer, without forgetting the famous Timbale of Poulard under Crust .

The Katz Tavern invites you at a stopover in this voyage which is the quality of the good food in Alsace.

Here Gastronomy distils the perfumes of forgotten flavors, a knowledge that Susy lavishes and cultivates for the greatest enjoyment of her guests.

The Katz House

House of the XVII century, the most remarkable of Saverne for the ornamentation of half-timberings and the polychromy of the rough coat.
Built in 1605 per Henri Katz , general receiver of Evêché, carved by Nicolas and Hans Faber , painted by Vincent von Hoeffen and Philippe Ferber (return to top of page).
